Before Dawn, before taps, and even before tiles, there was frustration.
Mark and Drew were working hands-on in renovations, running projects and repeatedly running into the same issues. Floss was immersed in the world of retail, learning how confusing products and poor guidance left customers feeling overwhelmed at exactly the moment they needed clarity. Meanwhile Sally was already out there helping people light their homes beautifully and confidently.
Tiles were the first category we tackled. That idea became TileCloud — a simpler, clearer way to shop for tiles online. But once we’d solved that problem, we couldn’t un-see the same issues across the rest of the home.

The next category we turned our attention to was tapware.
Choosing taps felt far more complicated than it should be. Technical jargon, unclear compatibility, and too many choices with too little explanation. So we launched Yabby, a brand built to demystify tapware and help customers make confident decisions.
Yabby reinforced something we already believed: When you remove confusion and lead with clarity, people feel empowered.
That insight led us to our next challenge.
Lighting didn’t need to be complicated
Lighting was everywhere in our renovation projects — and just as overwhelming.
Too much jargon. Too many technical specs. Too little help understanding what actually works in a real home. People were either guessing, overthinking, or relying on advice that didn’t quite fit.
We knew that if we were going to do lighting, we had to do it properly.
Built with real-world lighting expertise

That’s where Sally from Lighting & Decor comes in.
Sally has spent years running Lighting & Decor, a lighting store based in Wangaratta, Victoria, helping real customers make lighting decisions for real homes. She’s seen firsthand where people get stuck, what they overthink, and what actually makes the biggest difference once the lights are installed.
When we started shaping Dawn, we brought Sally on board to bring that on-the-ground expertise into everything we do, from product selection and ranges, to the way we explain lighting online.
This expertise ensures Dawn isn’t just simple in theory, but practical in reality. It’s lighting guidance grounded in experience, not guesswork.

Dawn exists to bring clarity to lighting.
We strip away the unnecessary complexity and focus on what actually matters: helping you choose great-looking, high-quality lights that work beautifully in your space.
No expertise required. No technical overwhelm. Just lighting that makes sense.
The lessons from TileCloud, Yabby, and Sally’s real-world lighting experience shaped Dawn from day one:
Dawn is designed to feel calm, supportive, and confidence-boosting — whether you’re planning a full build or just updating one room.
Because lighting should feel exciting, not exhausting.
