One warranty, every light. Here's how it works.
Every Dawn light carries the same warranty: 3 years for homes, 1 year for commercial spaces, from the day it's delivered. That covers the fitting, the finish, and — unlike most lighting warranties — the electronics inside: drivers, transformers and integrated LED modules. Replaceable globes are the main thing it doesn't cover, though our own LED globes carry their own 3-year warranty.
If something's wrong, take a photo, keep your proof of purchase, and contact us within 30 days. We'll make it right.
This warranty is provided by Verandah Brands Group Pty Ltd (ABN 92 698 757 701) trading as Dawn. When we say "we", "us" or "our", that's who we mean.
The following statement is required by law, and it applies to everything you buy from us:
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in this document takes away from those rights. Our warranty sits on top of them — it never replaces them.
Every Dawn product is warranted against faults in materials and workmanship for:
The warranty covers the whole product: the fitting itself, the finish, glass and shades, cables and canopies, and the electrical components — drivers, transformers, LED modules, lampholders and switches. The one exception is replaceable globes (section 4).
Periods run from the day your order is delivered — or, if the products came installed in a brand-new home, from the day you purchased the home. Products sold as Clearance, Seconds or Ex-Display are covered for 12 months. The warranty covers the original purchaser only and doesn't transfer if the products or the home are sold.
Ceiling fans carry the same 3-year warranty as everything else — and on top of that, we cover the fan motor for 7 years in residential use. The extended motor cover is parts only: it doesn't include the cost of removing or reinstalling the fan, and it doesn't extend to the light kit, remote, wall control or other electrical components, which are covered by the standard 3-year term. For commercial use, this warranty is limited to 1 year for the fan and motor.
How globes are covered depends on the type:
Globes supplied with a fitting, and replaceable decorative or filament globes, are consumables — if one arrives dead or broken, tell us within 7 days of delivery and we'll replace it.
LED globes purchased from Dawn as standalone products carry a 3 year warranty against faults in materials and workmanship.
For commercial use, this warranty is limited to 1 year.
Integrated LED modules — where the light source is built into the fitting and isn't designed to be replaced — are not globes. They're electronics, and they're covered for the full warranty period.
Either way, this doesn't affect your Australian Consumer Law rights, which apply to globes as they do to any product.
Hardwired products must be installed by a licensed electrician in accordance with AS/NZS 3000 and the instructions supplied with the product. You'll need proof of licensed installation for a claim on any hardwired product — an electrical compliance certificate, an electrician's invoice, or their licence number. Plug-in products (table and floor lamps) don't need an electrician.
Before installation, check the product carefully — installing a product is treated as acceptance that it's free from visible defects. And before you buy, make sure the product suits the space: ceiling construction, insulation, moisture and ventilation all affect what can go where. Issues caused by the installation environment — including moisture or humidity beyond the product's IP rating — aren't manufacturing faults. If you're not sure, ask us or your electrician before you buy.
Outdoor use is covered only for products designated as outdoor-rated — these carry an IP rating suitable for the location (IP44 or higher for exposed areas) and are marked as outdoor-suitable on the product page. Installing an indoor product outdoors, or an outdoor product beyond its IP rating, isn't covered.
The same applies to coastal areas — within roughly 5–10 km of the ocean, or anywhere with salt in the air. Only products rated for coastal use are covered there; corrosion or patina on a non-coastal product installed near the sea is environmental wear, not a manufacturing fault. If you're near the coast, check the product page for a coastal rating before you buy.
We can't cover problems we didn't cause. The warranty doesn't apply to:
You'll also need proof of purchase from Dawn, and enough evidence (usually photos) for us to confirm the fault is covered. None of these exclusions limit your Australian Consumer Law rights.
If your claim is covered, we'll repair the product, replace it, or supply the replacement part — free of charge. Repaired or replaced products carry the remainder of your original warranty period.
Replacements
If the exact product has been discontinued, we'll replace it with the closest equivalent in our current range. A replacement won't always be identical in dimensions, finish or mounting — we match as closely as we can on canopy size, cut-out and electrical configuration so it fits the existing installation, but we can't guarantee an exact match. If you'd prefer a product from a different category (say, a pendant instead of a fan), we'll treat that as a refund rather than a replacement, and any removal or reinstallation is at your cost.
This is a parts warranty: to the extent the law allows, and always subject to your Australian Consumer Law rights, we don't cover electrician costs to remove or reinstall products, access equipment for high installations, or damage to anything else and other indirect losses. If we arrange an inspection and the problem turns out to be installation, site conditions or something listed in section 7, we may charge a service fee.
Check your delivery when it arrives — if anything is damaged in transit, tell us within a few days with photos of the product and packaging, and don't install it.
For faults: stop using the product, take clear photos (for glassware, with the light on), and contact us within 30 days of finding the fault.
What we need from you:
Please don't arrange your own electrician or repair before we've confirmed the claim — unapproved costs aren't covered. Once we confirm, we'll tell you the next step. If a booked inspection needs rescheduling, let us know at least 48 hours ahead, or a call-out fee may apply.
